Dead or Absent

JUDGE MASKS

“Dead or Absent: +/- Presence in Wahidi Semantics” examines the impact of Wahidi grammatical conventions on the speakers' communal perception of reality using legal texts recently published by the Lambert Institute for Archeolinguistic Research. The talk portion of the project addresses one of the translations published by the Institute concerning a particular ritual of execution and exile. After the discussion, the ritual is enacted by a team of performers who have all willingly agreed to participate in the “Execution Game.”

This project was developed during a residency at Beaux-Arts de Nantes and continued in Houston, TX at the Blaffer Museum of Art.
